About me

I'm a freelance travel writer, editor and copywriter based near Brighton in the UK.

Over the past decade I've written for various print and online publications, including the Telegraph, the London Evening Standard, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, National Geographic Traveller, Cruise International, Club Life, Family Traveller, Virgin Money Magazine and more.

I’m an editor for Virgin Atlantic – writing and occasionally commissioning travel features about the airline’s 20+ global destinations. I’m also a long-term editor on a major travel project for a global search engine giant.

Recent copywriting clients include Expedia, Air Mauritius, Abercrombie & Kent, Virgin Holidays, London City Airport, Constance Hotels & Resorts, Mr and Mrs Smith boutique hotels and No.1 Airport Lounges.

I sometimes work on a consultancy basis with both large and small businesses, helping them to establish a blogging and social media presence. I’ve written brand guidelines, tone of voice documents and HR policies for corporates, and spent a lot of time working with digital start-ups in the areas of content strategy, design, SEO and user testing. I also enjoy running small group training sessions for in-house staff who want to give their writing and editing skills a boost.

Travel and me

Travel has always been an important part of my life. I start to get palpitations if I don’t have at least three or four trips lined up in advance. I specialise in the USA and try to see a bit more of it each year. I’ve also travelled widely throughout Europe, North America, Australasia, Southeast Asia, the Far East, and parts of southern Africa. And I happen to think there are few countries in the world as beautiful as the UK.

I’m happiest when I’m writing about local culture, wildlife, landscapes, music, design and architecture. I have a slight fixation with hotels and still feel the same buzz of anticipation each time I put my room key in a new door. I’m rarely without my camera, and I can generally provide above-average shots to accompany an article. See my Photography page for examples.
