I'm a freelance travel writer, editor and copywriter based near Brighton in the UK.
Over the past decade I've written for various print and online publications, including National Geographic Traveller, the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Cruise International, Club Life, Family Traveller, Virgin Money Magazine and more.
I’m also the co-editor of the Virgin Atlantic blog – writing and occasionally commissioning travel features about the airline’s 35+ global destinations.
Recent content and copywriting clients include Expedia, Air Mauritius, Virgin Holidays, London City Airport, Constance Hotels & Resorts, Mr and Mrs Smith boutique hotels and No.1 Airport Lounges. I'm also working on an ongoing large-scale project producing travel/lifestyle copy for a tech giant.
I occasionally work on a consultancy basis with both corporates and small businesses, helping them to create new content and establish a blogging and social media presence. I’ve spent a lot of time working with digital start-ups, particularly in the areas of content strategy, design, SEO and user testing. I also enjoy running small group training sessions for in-house staff who need to give their writing and blogging skills a boost.
Travel and me
Travel has always been an important part of my life. I start to get palpitations if I don’t have at least three or four trips lined up in advance. I specialise in the USA and try to see a bit more of it each year. I’ve also lived in Germany, and have travelled widely throughout Europe, North America, Australasia, Southeast Asia, the Far East, and parts of southern Africa. And I happen to think there are few countries in the world as beautiful as the UK.
I’m happiest when I’m writing about local culture, wildlife, landscapes, music, design, architecture and food. I have a slight fixation with hotels and still feel the same buzz of anticipation every time I put my room key in a new door. I’m rarely without my camera, and I can generally provide above-average shots to accompany an article. See my Photography page for examples.
